Winery history Château Ferrière

The estate takes its name from the Ferrière family and is listed among the 1855 Classified Growths. During the 20th century the property passed through several families connected to the Margaux area; more recently it was restored and relaunched by the Merlaut family and is now managed by Claire Villars-Lurton, who has led the transition to organic and biodynamic practices.

Production philosophy

Low-intervention practices: certified organic and biodynamic farming, use of native yeasts in fermentation, limited additives and attention to soil health. In the cellar, parcel-specific vinifications are favored, with ageing that combines oak barrels and cement/ovoid vessels to preserve the expression of the terroir.

Terroir and vineyards

Located in the heart of the Margaux appellation, the vineyard rests on deep gravel over calcareous marl. The vineyards are divided into parcels within the commune of Margaux, contributing to the wines' complexity.
