Winery history Château Malmaison

The estate, one of the oldest in the Médoc, was brought back into production and renovated after its purchase by Baron Edmond de Rothschild in the 1970s. Under the management of the Rothschild family the vineyard was replanted, and the cuvée’s name pays tribute to Baroness Nadine de Rothschild. Commercial distribution has been entrusted to specialized operators since the 2000s.

Production philosophy

The winery aims to express the local terroir through traditional viticultural practices and careful cellar work, highlighting the balance between fruit, structure and oak aging. It is part of the broader philosophy of Edmond de Rothschild Heritage, which promotes quality, land stewardship and the expression of place.

Terroir and vineyards

Located in the Moulis-en-Médoc appellation, the estate sits on the clay-limestone and sandy-clay soils typical of the Médoc. The terroir favors the expression of Merlot when blended with Cabernet Sauvignon.
