Winery history Chateau St.Helene

Chateau is marketed as the second wine associated with the Château de Malle estate, produced in the Sauternes region. Information found in product sheets and articles indicates that the cuvée is made according to the same practices used for Château de Malle’s first wine and is distributed as a product of the Sauternes appellation, with reference to the estate’s parcels located between Preignac, Fargues and Toulenne. Château de Malle is a Grand Cru Classé of the Sauternes appellation, managed by the Comtes de Bournazel family/management.

Production philosophy

Wine production follows the Sauternes tradition: late harvest with manual selection of grapes affected by noble rot, careful sorting in multiple passes, and winemaking designed to enhance the balance between sweetness and acidity typical of Sauternes liquoreux.

Terroir and vineyards

It is part of the Sauternes area. Commercial sources report that the vineyard parcels used for the wines associated with the domaine are distributed across the communes of Preignac, Fargues and Toulenne, in the southeast of the Bordeaux region.
