Winery history Château de Pierreux

The estate preserves traces of a fortified building of medieval origin; the two surviving towers point to a core dating from the 13th century. The cellars date to the early 17th century, while the current residence is the result of 19th-century alterations. Over the centuries the castle passed through several families.

Production philosophy

Vineyard management is determined parcel by parcel with an integrated pest-management approach aimed at reducing chemical treatments, monitoring plant-health indicators and biodiversity. Commercial sources linked to the owning group also indicate biodynamic practices applied to some winemaking.

Terroir and vineyards

Located in the Brouilly area, the vineyard overlooks Mont Brouilly; the soils are largely granitic, schistose and siliceous, with porphyritic deposits derived from the volcanic activity associated with Mont Brouilly.

Awards and recognitions

High Environmental Value certification noted for the domaine in 2020.
