Winery history Champagne J-M Sélèque

The family story begins with Henri Sélèque, who planted vineyards in the 1960s and bottled for the first time at the end of that decade. The estate was modernized by Richard, and since 2008 Jean‑Marc Sélèque has led production, introducing a more attentive approach to the vineyard's natural balance. The estate is rooted in family tradition, with an increasing focus on more sustainable viticultural practices and on winemaking that highlights the character of individual crus.

Production philosophy

Terroir-driven production: preserving soil life, controlling yields, gentle, unadorned winemaking, use of stainless-steel tanks and wooden barrels depending on the cuvée, extended aging on the lees and low dosage. The producer also states that some cuvées are vinified without fining or filtration.

Terroir and vineyards

Coteaux Sud d'Épernay, with vineyards spread across numerous parcels in the villages of Pierry, Moussy, Épernay, Dizy, Mardeuil, Boursault and Vertus.

Awards and recognitions

Critical notes reported by the producer and specialist publications: notable ratings from Wine Advocate, John Gilman, James Suckling, Revue des Vins de France and Bettane & Desseauve for various cuvées.
