Discover the story, territory and wines of Pieropan.
Family-owned winery in Soave (Veneto), known for its Garganega crus such as Calvarino and La Rocca. Production focused on respect for the land and organic viticulture.
The Pieropan family has roots in Soave viticulture and began operations with the purchase of the Calvarino vineyard in 1901. In the following decades the family-run business evolved: in the 1930s the sons continued the activity, while from the 1960s/1970s Leonildo Pieropan promoted the idea of single-vineyard wines, creating Calvarino and La Rocca. In the 2000s the estate adopted targeted agronomic measures — eliminating chemical weed control and beginning conversion to organic farming — and completed a new underground cellar in the vineyard area to adapt production spaces to modern needs. Management has passed to the next generation, maintaining family continuity.
Production philosophy
Care of each individual vineyard as the key to identity, minimal intervention in both vineyard and cellar, and enhancement of the soils and their different exposures. The estate’s approach favors sustainable practices and organic certification, with winemaking focused on expressing the terroir and producing long-lived wines.
Terroir and vineyards
The main vineyards are located in the Soave Classico area, with the cru Calvarino characterized by basalt and tuff and La Rocca on more calcareous soils; the estate has also acquired vineyards in the Monte Garzon area for the production of red wines and Amarone.
Awards and recognitions
The estate's wines have been repeatedly recognized by international publications and guides; individual labels such as Calvarino and the selections from Monte Garzon regularly appear in industry rankings and reviews.
