Winery history Tenuta Bellafonte

The project began as a personal interpretation of Montefalco's terroir: the name is a reworking of the family surname and the winery was developed to showcase the area's indigenous grape varieties. Over the years the estate has grown and gained recognition on the regional and national stage for its labels focused on Sagrantino and indigenous white wines.

Production philosophy

The agronomic approach favors low-chemical-input practices and natural fertilization. In the cellar, spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts is preferred, with maturation in large Slavonian oak casks and bottling often unfiltered to preserve the wine’s vitality and character.

Terroir and vineyards

Hills around Bevagna, in Umbria: vineyards that express the area's natural vocation for Sagrantino, Sangiovese and indigenous white grape varieties.

Awards and recognitions

Multiple vintages and award-winning wines: Collenottolo and Pomontino cited with recognitions such as "Tre Bicchieri" in various editions; mentions and scores from Bibenda, DoctorWine, James Suckling, Wine Advocate and Wine Enthusiast.
