Winery history Tenuta La Massa

Historical records mention the production of wine and olive oil in the area as early as the 15th century; the estate later became linked to the curia of Fiesole and to the Spedale di Bonifazio di Firenze. The estate’s modern viticultural and winemaking direction took shape when Giampaolo Motta acquired the property in 1992 and began restoring the vineyards and cellars, developing the labels that are now the company’s best-known.

Production philosophy

The estate is based on the study of the terroir as a guide for agronomic and winemaking choices: targeted interventions in the vineyard and cellar to allow the soil to express itself, with humility and attention to grape quality as the starting point for wines that reflect the territory.

Terroir and vineyards

Located in Panzano in Chianti, province of Florence, in the heart of Chianti Classico; the vineyards face south/southwest on varied soils.
