The story of the Don Julio distillery begins in 1942, when a young Don Julio González seized a great and unique opportunity, began the production of tequila, and founded his small distillery in the hills of Jalisco, in the town of Atotonilco, Mexico.

In its first 40 years of production it limited itself to distilling small batches almost for personal use and to continuous experimentation, but the great quality of its distillates equally became more and more famous until it reached the top and is now marketed all over the world.
