Distillation and production

Production method

Production starts from selected grapes from Armenian vineyards, with distillation of wines followed by blending of distillates. Brandies mature in Caucasian oak casks and the final composition is achieved through the art of blending and the addition of spring water to reach the desired alcohol strength.

Distillation

Distillation of wine (wine spirit) and blending/assembly of distillates.

Ageing

Aging in Caucasian oak casks; the references have different maturation periods (e.g. 10 years for Akhtamar, 15 years for Vaspurakan).

Producer history Ararat

The origins of the ARARAT brand date back to the late 19th century and are linked to the long tradition of brandy production in Yerevan. Modern production is entrusted to the Yerevan Brandy Company, a firm with historic roots in the area that joined the Pernod Ricard group in the late 1990s. Over time ARARAT has developed a range spanning young references to aged and ultra-premium expressions.

Production philosophy

To enhance Armenian viticultural heritage and tradition through the selection of local grapes, traditional maturation practices and the art of blending to create distillates with a recognizable aromatic profile consistent with the brand's history.

Territory

Produced in Yerevan (Armenia), using raw materials from Armenian vineyards and with a strong terroir reference to the Ararat Valley and local resources.
