The business has its roots in the Fábrica de San Pedro, inaugurated in 1884 in Arucas. During the 20th century production focused on rum, gaining recognition and becoming known as Ron Arehucas in the 1940s. In 1965 the company adopted the corporate name Destilerías Arehucas and in 2006 expanded the group with the acquisition of Fábrica de Licores Artemi, consolidating its position as one of the main producers of liqueurs and rum in the Canary Islands.
