Producer history Auchentoshan

The site dates back to the early 19th century (records of activity around 1817); the distillery was officially licensed in 1823 as Auchentoshan. During the 20th century it changed ownership several times; it was acquired by Morrison Bowmore in the 1980s and has been part of the Japanese group Suntory since 1994 (now operating within the group's international commercial organisation). The distillery is famed for its long tradition of triple distillation and for ageing in ex-bourbon oak casks and sherry/fine wine casks for some expressions.
