Calle was born from the work and research of Sophie Decobecq, a French researcher and biochemist who moved to Mexico and began distilling and developing her own tequilas in the early 2000s. Decobecq collaborated for years with local distilleries and projects such as Tequila Ocho before focusing on her own releases. The brand is known for careful selection of agave varieties (including the rare 'Criollo' agave in special editions), small-batch production and expressions both unaged (Blanco) and wood-aged (Añejo).
