Cockspur

The Cockspur brand originates from the commercial activity of Valdemar Hanschell and emerged as a rum brand in Barbados from the late 19th century; the official site and historical sources place its foundation around 1884. During the 20th century ownership and corporate management underwent several changes (Hanschell Larson, Hanschell Inniss, acquisition by Goddard Enterprises in past years). In 2017 the brand ownership was transferred to Woodland Radicle, which indicated an intention to relaunch and expand the international presence while keeping production and bottling in Barbados.

Cockspur emphasizes Caribbean tradition and continuity of production practices: use of coral-filtered water, aging in oak barrels and tropical maturation, with a lively brand image centered on the rooster symbol. The brand's stated approach aims to preserve the local character of the rum while expanding its distribution abroad.
