Production method

Apples and pears are selected and pressed to obtain a must that ferments naturally (minimum indicated duration 21 days). The resulting cider is distilled on the lees in traditional copper column stills (three columns), producing eaux‑de‑vie that are then aged and blended. The cellar master controls the blending and the balance between fruit and wood.

Founded in 1937 by René Gilbert, Domaine du Coquerel (often referred to today as Distillerie Coquerel) is a family-owned Normandy house specialised in Calvados production. Over generations the company has preserved local traditional practices while modernising equipment and expanding export activity. In recent decades the range has been extended to include Pommeau, cider and an in-house artisanal gin.
