Producer history Deanston
The original facility was built as Adelphi Mill in 1785 and operated as a cotton mill until its closure in 1965; the building was converted into a distillery and reopened in the 1960s. The first single malt bearing the Deanston name was produced in the 1970s. In 2000 Deanston was among the first Scottish distilleries to start organic-certified whisky production; the site also uses local water resources and has on-site hydroelectric power generation.
