Distillation and production

Distillation and production

Production method

For fruit brandies the house uses manual handling with careful pressing/mixing, controlled fermentation and distillation in small copper stills; many brandies are double distilled and some rarities are finished in traditional containers (e.g. steingut). Whisky production follows single malt practices (malting/fermentation/distillation in copper stills) with subsequent aging in selected casks.

Distillation

Distillation in small copper pot stills for fruit edeldestillate (often double distillation); traditional copper pot still distillation also used for single malt whiskies.

Ageing

Maturation in selected casks for the whiskies (e.g. Amontillado, Port, Burgundy wine casks); some fruit brandies are aged in steingut containers or in casks of particular woods (acacia, chestnut) depending on the expression.

Producer history Distillerie Lantenhammer

The roots of Lantenhammer go back to 1928, when Amalie and Josef Lantenhammer founded a small distillery for edeldestillate in the Hausham/Agatharied area. After the post-war reopening (1948) the company remained family-run and gradually expanded into a modern experiential distillery based in Hausham/Schliersee; in recent years the range has been extended to include whisky, vodka, gin and rum alongside traditional fruit distillates.

Production philosophy

Lantenhammer emphasizes the quality of raw materials (selected fruit), artisanal processing and transparency of the production process. Repeated values across the site include the importance of fruit, controlled fermentation, careful distillation and selective aging.

Territory

Hausham / Schliersee, Bavaria (Germany). Some SILD whisky editions are produced in collaboration with partners linked to the island of Sylt (for example special maturation/finishes for Sylt-related editions).

Awards and recognitions

National recognitions and medals; the house reports various prizes (including mentions such as "Destillateur des Jahres" and gold medals for individual distillates in official communications).
