The Eagle Rare brand was created in the 1970s and, after several production phases, became part of the Buffalo Trace/Sazerac family. Since 1989 Eagle Rare has been produced at the Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky, and the range includes the core 10-year expression as well as older, collectible releases (including 17- and 20-year versions).
