Distillation and production

Production method

Use of the crus of the Cognac region (including Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Fins Bois and Bons Bois); distillation according to the Charentais method with a Charentais still and double distillation; ageing in selected, toasted French oak casks, in chais with high natural humidity above the Osme river; blends carried out by the maître de chai.

Distillation

Charentais method: double distillation in a Charentais still (first for the 'brouillis', second to obtain the eaux-de-vie).

Ageing

Ageing in French oak casks with controlled toasting; storage in chais naturally humid above the Osme river that promote long, harmonious maturation.

Producer history Gautier

The known origins of the Maison date back to the 18th century: the Gautier family, originally involved in making staves and casks, received official recognition in 1755 that marks the foundation of the Maison. Its cellars are located in the old water mill of Aigre, above the Osme stream. Today the Maison is part of the Marie Brizard Wine & Spirits group, which documents its history and activities.

Production philosophy

Gautier focuses on mature, harmonious blends, favoring long ageing periods and careful selection of eaux-de-vie. The Maison values its relationships with growers, distillers and coopers to ensure consistent quality and a generous, rounded organoleptic signature.

Territory

Aigre, Charente department (France). Production relies on eaux-de-vie from the crus of the Cognac region: Grande Champagne, Petite Champagne, Fins Bois, Bons Bois.
