Irish Mist was launched commercially in Ireland in 1947, developed in Tullamore (County Offaly) and inspired by the tradition of so-called 'heather wine'. Over the years the brand changed ownership several times: acquired by Cantrell & Cochrane in 1985, subsequently passing through different groups (including William Grant and the Campari Group in 2010) and finally sold to Heaven Hill Brands in 2017. The product is historically recognised as the first commercially produced liqueur in Ireland and is distributed on international markets, with a strong presence in the United States.
