Distillation in very tall copper stills; traditional single malt setup (sources report 2 wash stills and 2 spirit stills).

Ageing

Producer history Isle Of Jura

Whisky production on the island dates back to the early 19th century (first official distillery founded in 1810). The modern facility was rebuilt and reopened in the 1960s (1963) and since then the distillery has undergone several ownership changes until entering the Whyte & Mackay portfolio in the 1990s; Whyte & Mackay is today controlled by the Emperador / Alliance Global group (acquisition 2014). Over the years Jura has developed a range that spans from young, accessible expressions to rare, aged releases.

Production philosophy

To produce whisky that reflects the character and community of the island: an approach focused on drinkability, conviviality and the use of local resources (island water, microclimate) combined with experimentation in cask finishing.

Territory

Isle of Jura, Inner Hebrides, Argyll and Bute, Scotland (United Kingdom)
