Production method

Raw material comes from Crystalline sugar cane cultivated in Haiti; there a first artisanal distillation (pot still) produces a semi-finished spirit that is then shipped to Monaco. In Monaco the semi-finished spirit undergoes a second distillation and a cut of heads and tails before reduction and bottling. The first release is an unaged white rum; experimental finishing in ex-vermouth and ex-Marsala casks is planned.

Ageing

Initial release unaged (white rum). Experimental/developmental plans include maturation/finishing in ex-vermouth and ex-Marsala casks.

Producer history Mother Mesccia

The Mother Mesccia project was born to recover Monaco's historic "mesccia" tradition (a historic blend between Caribbean rum and European liqueurs). The idea was promoted by the Principality of Monaco and developed with the contribution of Luca Gargano (Velier). Initial distillations and tastings date to 2023; the first modern commercial release was presented in 2025 (initial release as an unaged white rum).

Production philosophy

To revive a traditional recipe of the Principality through a transparent supply chain and the pairing of Haitian terroir with artisanal processing in Monaco, privileging high-quality raw materials and traditional techniques reinterpreted for contemporary tastes.
