Producer history Pedro Domecq

The Domecq name has been present in the wine and spirits landscape of Jerez de la Frontera since the 19th century and even earlier in local viticultural activities. The 'Fundador' brand was launched by the Domecq family in the 19th century and Bodegas Fundador is historically one of the oldest cellars in the Marco de Jerez. The Domecq portfolio went through several mergers and divestments over the 20th and 21st centuries: parts of the range were integrated into groups such as Allied Domecq and later transferred to different buyers; in 2015/2016 the Spanish business related to Fundador and some associated brands was acquired by Grupo Emperador (Emperador Inc.). Some other historic marques linked to the Domecq group were sold to other operators (e.g. Grupo Osborne, Gonzalez Byass) during various corporate reorganizations.

Production philosophy

Tradition and valorisation of Jerez's heritage: official communications about recent acquisitions emphasize the intent to preserve historic inventory, regional maturation techniques and to valorize aging in Marco de Jerez casks to produce high-quality brandy.

Territory

Jerez de la Frontera (Marco de Jerez), Andalusia, Spain; historically strong commercial presence in markets such as the Philippines, Latin America and Spain.
