Distillation and production

Distillation and production

Production method

Production based on cru grapes from Grande Champagne cultivated and managed by in-house growers; traditional cognac distillation with double distillation in characteristic charentais copper pot stills; ageing in oak barrels and blends carried out by the master blender.

Distillation

Double distillation in charentais copper pot stills, traditionally heated by direct flame.

Ageing

Ageing in French oak barrels; some expressions undergo a secondary finish in casks that held Banyuls or Port; use of multiple cellars with different conditions to achieve complexity.

Producer history Pierre Ferrand

The Pierre Ferrand brand was relaunched at the end of the 20th century: in 1989 Alexandre Gabriel and Jean-Dominique Andreu acquired the property and stocks linked to the historic Ferrand company in La Nérolle (Segonzac), founding the modern Maison Ferrand and developing a range of cognacs that highlight the terroirs of Grande Champagne. Over time the Maison expanded, adding brands and projects in the world of spirits while maintaining a strong focus on local history and technical research.

Production philosophy

To showcase terroir and traditional practices while pursuing innovation: production based on cru from Grande Champagne, respect for artisanal techniques and experimentation with ageing methods that rediscover historical practices (e.g. secondary finishes in casks that previously held fortified wines). Strong attention to mixology with some expressions designed for cocktail use.
