Distillation and production

Distillation and production

Production method

Artisanal London Dry production: recipe developed with an external ginmaker, predominant use of botanicals harvested on the estate and nearby plots; specific production processes and aging for some labels (e.g. barrel aging for the 'Barrel' version).

Distillation

London Dry (artisanal distillation following the classic protocol; recipe developed with ginmaker Charles Maxwell)

Ageing

Aging in ex-Chardonnay oak barrels for the 'Barrel' version (post-distillation maturation)

Producer history Sabatini

The project was launched by the Sabatini family, which in 2015 established Teccognano S.r.l. to develop a gin line tied to the Villa Ugo estate in Teccognano (a hamlet of Cortona, province of Arezzo). The recipe was created with the contribution of ginmaker Charles Maxwell (Thames Distillers) and has evolved to include variants such as Villa Ugo, Gin Barrel (aged in ex-Chardonnay barrels) and a ready-to-serve Negroni.

Production philosophy

To enhance the Tuscan territory through a London Dry Gin that incorporates local botanicals grown on the family estates, combining the English tradition of distillation and Mediterranean raw materials to express Tuscan character in the gin.

Territory

Teccognano (hamlet of Cortona), Province of Arezzo, Tuscany, Italy

Awards and recognitions

Various accolades are reported on the official website for the labels (including medals at Gin Awards, International Spirit Challenge, SIP Awards, International World Spirits Competition) and the Sabatini Negroni received Gold and the 'RTD of the Year' recognition at the London Spirit Competition.
