Production method

Products in the range are developed by maceration/infusion of flowers, fruit and spices in appropriate alcoholic bases (neutral grain alcohol or spirit bases such as rum), followed by blending and sugar dosing; for some liqueurs distillates of the same raw material are also used (e.g. apricot eau-de-vie / apricot schnapps for the Apricot Liqueur).

Producer history The Bitter Truth

The Bitter Truth was born from the meeting of two Munich bartenders, Stephan Berg and Alexander Hauck, at the London Bar Show in 2006. In the following months (August 2006) the company launched its first bitters (Orange, Old Time Aromatic, Lemon) and later expanded the catalogue to include numerous cocktail flavorings, travel sets and, in subsequent years, a line of liqueurs and flavored spirits. Significant milestones include the historical reconstruction of Bogart's/Boker's recipe and recognition at Tales of the Cocktail 2010 (Celery Bitters, "Best New Product"). The company is registered as The Bitter Truth GmbH and is based in Pullach im Isartal, Germany.

Production philosophy

Restore and highlight classic mixing ingredients: selecting flavors that have often disappeared or are hard to source, relying on historical recipes and the experience of bartenders to enable faithful preparation of traditional cocktails.
