The Ansonica DOC from Vigna di Gabri by Donnafugata is an exquisite example of how love and care for the terroir can be beautifully expressed in a glass of wine. Originating from Sicily, this white wine exhibits a distinctive character, representative of the island's rich winemaking tradition.

Vigna di Gabri, located in a privileged position, is famously recognized for its fertile soil and ideal climate that enhance the unique qualities of the Ansonica grape, cultivated using sustainable methods to preserve the environment and the purity of the fruit. The wine is the result of a meticulous selection of grapes, followed by a winemaking process that respects and enhances the varietal characteristics.

On the nose, the Ansonica DOC by Donnafugata reveals intense and enveloping aromas of ripe tropical fruit, with notes of apricot, citrus, and a subtle trace of aromatic herbs. The olfactory complexity invites a sip, which confirms the freshness and elegance perceived on the nose. On the palate, the wine is balanced with a mineral note that adds depth to the long and pleasing finish.

This wine pairs perfectly with fish dishes, both in simple preparations and in more elaborate dishes with aromatic sauces. It is also an excellent companion for vegetarian cuisine, especially dishes that include fresh ingredients and aromatic herbs.

Serve the Ansonica DOC - Vigna di Gabri by Donnafugata slightly chilled, at a temperature of about 10-12°C, to fully appreciate its harmony and complexity. With its elegance and sophistication, this wine is destined to seduce and delight wine lovers.

Winery history
Donnafugata began as an entrepreneurial project of the Rallo family, led by Giacomo and Gabriella Rallo. The modern company grew out of the family’s historical roots in the province of Marsala. Since its founding the brand has expanded its presence across several Sicilian territories and is now led by the next generation. Over the years the company has complemented its traditional production with sustainability initiatives, experimentation with indigenous grape varieties, and cultural projects connected to art and music.
Production philosophy
Enhancing biodiversity and Sicily's indigenous grape varieties, combining respect for the land with sustainable practices. Donnafugata focuses on carefully crafted, sometimes niche wines rooted in distinct territories, with a strong connection to the arts and cultural initiatives such as Donnafugata Music & Wine.
Terroir and vineyards
Production is spread across several estates in Sicily: Contessa Entellina, the volcanic island of Pantelleria, the Vittoria district, the slopes of Etna and the historic cellars of Marsala. Each area is employed to express different grape varieties and styles, from Pantelleria’s passito wines to the reds of Vittoria and Etna.
Awards and recognitions
Donnafugata's iconic wines, particularly the Passito di Pantelleria Ben Ryé, have received accolades and high ratings from Italian and international guides and publications, including Gambero Rosso, DoctorWine, Veronelli, and other international reviewers cited by the company.
