The AOC Bordeaux Blanc - Asphodele - Chateau Climens represents an example of excellence in the production of white wines in the Bordeaux region. Chateau Climens, known primarily for its extraordinary sweet Barsac wines, has extended its craftsmanship to dry white wines as well, using the same attention to detail and quality that distinguishes all its wines.

"Asphodele" is a wine that expresses the freshness, elegance and complexity of the Bordeaux terroir, produced entirely with carefully selected grapes. The choice to dedicate the same passion and precision, typical of the production of Chateau Climens sweet wines, also to a Bordeaux Blanc testifies to the winery's commitment to the pursuit of excellence in all its wine expressions.

This wine has a light and brilliant straw yellow color. On the nose, Asphodele offers an intense and varied aromatic bouquet, with notes of white pulp fruits, citrus fruits and white flowers, enriched with mineral nuances that reflect the richness of the Bordeaux soil. Careful processing and refinement in optimal conditions allow the freshness and integrity of the aromas to be preserved.

In the mouth, the wine reveals an extraordinary freshness and liveliness, supported by a well-balanced acidity which enhances its drinkability and the complexity of the flavours. The AOC Bordeaux Blanc Asphodele by Chateau Climens expresses a range of flavors consistent with the olfactory bouquet, with a clean and persistent finish that leaves a pleasant sensation of elegance and refinement.

Ideal as an aperitif or paired with fish dishes, seafood, fresh salads and soft cheeses, this Bordeaux Blanc demonstrates how Chateau Climens is capable of producing high-quality dry white wines, which are a worthy complement to its historic production of sweet wines.

Winery history
The name Climens appears in documents as early as 1547; ownership passed over time to the Roborel de Climens, Binaud and Gounouilhou families and, in 1971, to the Lurton family. Management was later entrusted to Bérénice Lurton and, more recently, ownership passed to the Moitry family, with technical and winemaking continuity ensured by the estate’s long-standing team. Château Climens was recognized as a Premier Cru in the 1855 classification.
Production philosophy
Search for purity and elegance expressed through the enhancement of the terroir: Climens emphasizes the mineral character of its limestone soils and has undertaken a conversion to biodynamic viticulture to promote vigor and aromatic precision; the estate also values biodiversity-related practices.
Terroir and vineyards
Vineyard situated on a plateau in Barsac, characterized by superficial red iron-rich sands over a fractured limestone slab. The microclimate, linked to morning mists from the Ciron River and the afternoon sun, favors the development of Botrytis cinerea, the basis of the sweet wines of Sauternes/Barsac.
