Baron de Chirel Magnum by Marques de Riscal is an elegant and refined expression of Rioja, one of the most renowned Spanish denominations. This wine is mainly made from the Tempranillo grape variety, which finds an ideal terroir in the Rioja Alavesa territory, characterized by a temperate climate and limestone soils, perfect for developing complexity and structure. The aging, carried out in French oak barrels, gives the wine a perfect harmony between fruity freshness and spicy aromaticity, with notes of ripe cherries, tobacco, and a hint of vanilla that blend delicately. Its Magnum version offers slower aging and a smoother evolution over time, making it an ideal companion for grilled red meat dishes or aged cheeses. Baron de Chirel gracefully expresses the traditional and ever-current character of Rioja, inviting a tasting that celebrates passion and winemaking mastery.

Winery history
The property originated as a winery associated with the title of the Marchese de Riscal. Camilo Hurtado de Amézaga was the driving force behind the entrepreneurial transformation that led to the company's founding in the second half of the 19th century; the winery has a long tradition of producing Rioja and, from the 1970s onward, has also established itself in the Rueda appellation for white wines. During the 20th and 21st centuries the estate expanded its wine‑tourism focus by creating the "Ciudad del Vino" and building the iconic hotel designed by Frank Gehry.
Production philosophy
The estate declares a strong commitment to respecting the land and to wine quality: it promotes organic and regenerative farming practices aimed at preserving soil health, enhancing varietal character and adapting the vineyards to climate change. At the same time it seeks to combine tradition and innovation, opening the cellar to the public with tours and hospitality experiences.
