Bin 128 - Penfolds is a red wine produced by the famous Australian winery Penfolds, renowned for its history of innovation and quality in wine production. This wine is part of the prestigious "Bin" series, which represents a selection of high-level labels, each with unique characteristics linked to the terroir and grape variety of origin.

Bin 128 is dedicated exclusively to the Shiraz grape, grown in the cool Coonawarra region of South Australia. This area is particularly famous for its iron-rich red soil, known as "Terra Rossa", which helps give the wine a distinctive tannic structure and remarkable aromatic depth. The particularity of Bin 128 also derives from its aging in French oak barriques, which adds complexity to the aromatic profile without overpowering the natural expressions of the grape variety.

At sight, Bin 128 by Penfolds has an intense ruby red color, tending towards purple. On the nose, the wine unfolds a rich range of aromas, with notes of black fruits such as blackberries and plums, enriched by nuances of spices, black pepper and an elegant touch of wood resulting from aging in barrique.

In the mouth, the wine shows great structure and remarkable balance. The tannins are ripe and well integrated, supporting a palate rich in flavors that reflect the olfactory notes. The acidity is well balanced, helping to maintain a freshness that invites another sip. The finish is long and persistent, with a spicy aftertaste that leaves a pleasant sensation of warmth and complexity.

Ideal paired with robust dishes such as grilled red meats, rich stews and mature cheeses, Bin 128 - Penfolds is a wine that enhances the expression of Shiraz in Coonawarra, offering a deep and nuanced tasting experience.

The "Bin" line and other iconic references that represent Penfolds' style. A long historical legacy and a contemporary focus on innovation in the winery.
Winery history
Penfolds was founded in Magill when Christopher and Mary Penfold planted the first vines in 1844. Over the decades the winery grew from local production of fortified and table wines to an international presence, with key moments such as the arrival of Max Schubert and the experimentation that led to the creation of the famous Grange in the 1950s. Today Penfolds combines tradition and innovation, continuing to nurture historic vineyards and select fruit from many regions for its flagship wines.
Production philosophy
The company's approach combines technical rigor and creativity: Penfolds prioritizes the pursuit of the "house style" through site selection, cellar experimentation and a vision that brings together science and craftsmanship to produce age-worthy, distinctive wines.
Terroir and vineyards
Historic headquarters in Magill, with sourcing from many Australian wine regions including Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, Coonawarra, Adelaide Hills, Eden Valley, Clare Valley, Wrattonbully and also cooler areas such as Tasmania. Penfolds also has international projects and fruit sources, for example Napa Valley in the United States.
