Bin 8 - Penfolds is an Australian red wine that skilfully combines two of the most representative and appreciated vines of Australian winemaking: Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. Introduced by Penfolds winery, one of the most historic and prestigious in Australia, Bin 8 is positioned within their renowned "Bin" series, a line of wines that stand out for their quality, complexity and aging capacity.

Created as a more accessible proposition than other wines in Penfolds' 'Bin' range, Bin 8 was first launched in 2003. The wine aims to offer a tasting experience that reflects the Penfolds philosophy, combining the aromatic intensity and structure of Cabernet Sauvignon with the softness and richness of flavors of Shiraz. This blend was inspired by the famous Penfolds Bin 389, known as "Baby Grange", making Bin 8 a more accessible introduction to this iconic style.

The vinification of Bin 8 involves aging in oak barriques, which helps integrate the tannins and add layers of aromatic complexity without overpowering the fruity character of the wine. This process ensures that Bin 8 maintains a balance between immediate accessibility and aging potential.

At sight, the wine has an intense and deep red color. On the nose, Bin 8 offers a wide spectrum of aromas, with notes of red and black fruits, such as cherries, blackberries and plums, enriched by touches of spices, chocolate and a subtle accent of vanilla and oak. In the mouth, the wine demonstrates a beautiful harmony between the varieties, with the Shiraz bringing softness and depth of fruit, while the Cabernet Sauvignon provides structure and a long aromatic persistence.

Ideal to accompany a wide range of dishes, from barbecue to more elaborate red meat dishes, mature cheeses and mushroom dishes, Bin 8 - Penfolds is an example of how Penfolds manages to create wines of character and quality, accessible to a large audience of enthusiasts.

Winery history
Penfolds was founded in Magill when Christopher and Mary Penfold planted the first vines in 1844. Over the decades the winery grew from local production of fortified and table wines to an international presence, with key moments such as the arrival of Max Schubert and the experimentation that led to the creation of the famous Grange in the 1950s. Today Penfolds combines tradition and innovation, continuing to nurture historic vineyards and select fruit from many regions for its flagship wines.
Production philosophy
The company's approach combines technical rigor and creativity: Penfolds prioritizes the pursuit of the "house style" through site selection, cellar experimentation and a vision that brings together science and craftsmanship to produce age-worthy, distinctive wines.
Terroir and vineyards

Penfolds also has international projects and fruit sources, for example Napa Valley in the United States.
