The Cabernet Franc Friuli Grave DOC by I Magredi represents an exemplary interpretation of this grape variety grown in the renowned region of Friuli Venezia Giulia. Known for its terracotta and ideal microclimate, the area of Friuli Grave provides the perfect context for the maturation of Cabernet Franc, which stands out for its elegance and aromatic complexity.

This wine presents itself with an intense ruby red color, which foreshadows the structure and intensity of the olfactory sensations. On the nose, vibrant notes of wild berries stand out, including raspberry and blackberry, with a subtle aftertaste of green pepper and a slight vegetal touch, characteristic of Cabernet Franc. Aging in oak barrels adds nuances of vanilla and tobacco, which beautifully harmonize with the fruit.

On the palate, the Cabernet Franc Friuli Grave DOC by I Magredi is vigorous and fully bodied, with well-structured but rounded tannins, leading to a persistent and pleasantly spicy finish. The balance between acidity and alcohol is well-managed, making this wine an excellent companion for rich and flavorful foods, such as roast meats, game dishes, or aged cheeses.

For those looking for a wine that expresses the unique terroir of Friuli with the charm of a less common varietal in Italy, the Cabernet Franc Friuli Grave DOC by I Magredi is a choice that promises to satisfy even the most discerning connoisseurs. The care in production and authenticity of flavor make this wine an essential exemplar for enthusiasts of robust and aromatic wines.

Winery history
The estate has long been linked to the Tombacco family: Otello Tombacco purchased it in 1968 and, in the late 1980s, Michelangelo Tombacco converted the mainly fruit-growing enterprise into a fully fledged winery. The first part of the cellar was constructed in 1990, and the facilities were expanded and modernized several times; since 2018 the site has been undertaking a project for a new production building. In March 2026 the estate was returned to the full control of Valdo Spumanti, which had already held a stake since 2018.
Production philosophy
The winery adopts an approach that combines tradition and innovation: a focus on quality, respect for the land and attention to environmental sustainability. In the vineyard, integrated pest management protocols are applied, and the company has invested in systems for energy production and in winery wastewater treatment.
Terroir and vineyards
The vineyards are located in the Grave del Friuli, characterized by coarse alluvial soils and wide stretches of pebbles known as 'magredi'. This terroir, protected in many areas as a Special Area of Conservation, fosters pronounced diurnal temperature variation and the aromatic grapes typical of Friuli-Venezia Giulia.
