The Carignano del Sulcis Riserva DOC - Terre Rare by Sella & Mosca is a refined expression of the Carignano grape variety, grown in the evocative lands of Sulcis in Sardinia. This wine stands out for its intense depth of color, a ruby red that tends to garnet as it evolves. On the nose, the bouquet is complex, characterized by notes of ripe berries, plums, subtle hints of spices, and a slight trace of tobacco and chocolate, thanks to the aging in wood.

On the palate, the Carignano del Sulcis Riserva offers a robust yet harmonious structure; the tannins are well-balanced due to the 18 months of aging in oak barrels, which give the wine a pleasant softness without overpowering its original freshness. The aromatic persistence is remarkable, leaving a highly satisfying aftertaste with hints of red fruit and spicy nuances.

This wine is an excellent choice to accompany intense dishes such as red meat roasts, game, or aged cheeses. Its complexity and elegance also make it suitable as a meditation wine.

To optimize its expressiveness, it is recommended to decant it at least one hour before serving and serve it at a temperature of 18°C. With aging potential extending beyond ten years, the Carignano del Sulcis Riserva is a wine that can enrich any enthusiast's cellar.

Winery history
Founded in 1899 by two Piedmontese entrepreneurs, Erminio Sella and Edgardo Mosca, the estate was established through the reclamation of the plain north of Alghero. Over time the company has developed across a large Mediterranean property; alongside the historic winery and service buildings there are hospitality facilities created in the old farm buildings. Since 2016 Sella & Mosca has been part of the Terra Moretti group, which has initiated renovation and investment works on the estate.
Production philosophy
It combines the enhancement of Sardinian native grape varieties with the cultivation and celebration of international varieties. It promotes practices focused on environmental sustainability and on the connection with the territory, with sustainability certification projects.
Terroir and vineyards
The estate is located in the La Nurra area in northwest Sardinia, near Alghero. The vineyards benefit from calcareous, sandy and clay soils and from the influence of the sea. Sella & Mosca also has vineyards in other parts of the island, such as Gallura and Sulcis.
Awards and recognitions
Some wines from Sella & Mosca have received notable recognitions: for example, the Vermentino "Monteoro" was awarded Gambero Rosso's 3 Bicchieri. Several labels have also received ratings and scores from specialist publications.
