Domaine d'Elise – Winery in Borgogna (Chablis)

Discover the story and wines of Domaine d'Elise.

A small Chablis domaine producing primarily Chablis and Petit Chablis, known for its traditional style, minerality and attentive vineyard management under the guidance of Frédéric Prain.
Region: Borgogna (Chablis)
Country: Francia
Founded: 1970
Grapes: Chardonnay
Production focused on Chablis and Petit Chablis A single, contiguous vineyard that extends from the top of the Côte de Léchet to Milly. Owned and operated by: Frédéric Prain Clay-limestone and very stony soils Practices geared toward full grape ripeness and a traditional style
Winery history
The domaine was established in 1970 and, since the 1980s, has been led by Frédéric Prain, a former engineer who consolidated the house's style. The vineyards are grouped in a single holding and the estate's management has remained fairly discreet, slowly building the producer's reputation within the Chablis appellation.
Production philosophy
Priority is given to grape quality and ripeness: harvests are often later than average to encourage aromatic maturity, with respect for the limestone terroir and winemaking focused on expressing purity and minerality rather than excessive manipulation in the cellar.
Terroir and vineyards
Located in the Chablis area, the vineyard lies on clay-limestone, very stony Portlandian soils. It comprises parcels classified as Chablis and Petit Chablis, as well as portions adjacent to the Premier Cru Côte de Léchet.
