Winery history
The Grumier family has been winegrowers in Venteuil for generations. Amand Grumier first made wine from part of his production in 1928; after the Second World War Maurice resumed operations in 1945, giving the house its name. In subsequent years Guy, and then Fabien, expanded and diversified the cuvées, introducing oak aging and new winemaking experiments in the cellar.
Production philosophy
Strong focus on the terroir of the Vallée de la Marne, sustainable viticulture practices and the pursuit of the soil’s expression in the cuvées. In the cellar, winemaking in stainless steel and oak is combined with extended ageing on the lees and the selective use of barriques for certain cuvées.
Terroir and vineyards
Vineyards located on both banks of the Marne, with parcels in communes such as Venteuil, Damery, Reuil, Festigny, Dormans, Nesle-le-Répons and Baslieux-sous-Châtillon. Soils are predominantly crayeux, typical of the Marne Valley.
