The Chianti Classico Riserva DOCG of Riecine is an authentic expression of the Tuscan heart, rooted in the terroir of Gaiole in Chianti. It is mainly made from Sangiovese grapes, hand-picked and carefully selected, reflecting the innate nature of the Chianti hills. The aging takes place in oak barrels, where the wine evolves for at least 24 months, acquiring a full and complex structure. On the nose, it opens with intense aromas of ripe cherry, sweet spices, and earthy hints that evoke the Mediterranean undergrowth. The entry on the palate is vibrant and fresh, with elegant tannins and a persistent finish, confirming its excellent aging potential.

Perfectly paired with typical Tuscan dishes, such as bistecca alla fiorentina or roasted meats, this Chianti Classico Riserva of Riecine embodies the balance between tradition and distinctive territory, offering a enveloping and refined sensory experience.

Winery history
The contemporary Riecine took shape under John Dunkley, who acquired the land in 1971 and brought the first Chianti Classico to market in the early 1970s. The property later passed to the Baumann family and, in 2011, to Lana Frank; since 2015 Alessandro Campatelli has held technical roles and, according to the official website, in 2024 became the owner while retaining his role as winemaker and director. Over time the estate has expanded its vineyard holdings and developed signature labels such as the Chianti Classico, the Gran Selezione Vigna Gittori, Riecine di Riecine and other experimental wines.
Production philosophy
Production focused on minimal intervention: spontaneous fermentations without selected yeasts, limited use of winemaking aids, carefully calibrated aging and a strong commitment to respecting the terroir. The winery favors techniques that enhance the purity of Sangiovese and the typicity of the terroir.
Terroir and vineyards
The estate is located in Gaiole in Chianti, on hilly slopes at elevations of approximately 480–600 m above sea level; the soils include calcareous, schistose and galestro/shale components typical of the area, which contribute to the freshness and structure of the wines. The Vigna Gittori vineyard is noted as a significant parcel for the Gran Selezione.
Awards and recognitions
Riecine's wines regularly receive high scores from international critics across multiple vintages; individual bottlings frequently appear on score lists and in specialist reviews.
