The Controguerra Bianco DOC, produced by Illuminati winery, hails from the splendid region of Abruzzo, an area renowned for its particularly favorable terrain for viticulture. This wine elegantly expresses the essence of the Passerina grape, a little-known but highly interesting native variety that imparts a distinctive and lively character to the wine.

The Passerina used for the Controguerra Bianco is cultivated using methods that respect both tradition and the environment, thereby ensuring not only the quality but also the integrity of the product. On the nose, the wine surprises with its delicate aromas of white-fleshed fruits, such as pear and apple, accompanied by subtle floral notes and a light mineral touch reminiscent of fresh stone.

On the palate, the Controguerra Bianco is fresh and lively. Its well-balanced acidity counterpoints the moderate alcohol structure, making it pleasantly drinkable and suitable for pairing with a wide variety of dishes. The wine exhibits beautiful aromatic persistence, with a finish that returns to tones of freshness and clean taste.

Ideal as an aperitif, this wine pairs wonderfully with light appetizers, fish or seafood dishes, and fresh cheeses. An excellent representative of Abruzzo's viticulture, the Controguerra Bianco DOC by Illuminati is a stylish choice for those seeking a white wine that combines tradition and enjoyment.

This wine is not only a testament to the biodiversity of the Italian grape variety but also to Illuminati's commitment to producing high-quality wines that tell the story of the terroir from which they come. A true gem for lovers of distinctive and characterful white wines.

Winery history
The business traces its origins to the Illuminati family and dates back to 1890, when Nicola Illuminati began winemaking on the border between Marche and Abruzzo. Over the generations ownership and management have remained within the family; in the 1960s Dino Illuminati established the headquarters in Controguerra and expanded the vineyards in the historic area known as Zanna. Today the winery remains a family-run enterprise with multiple generations involved.
Production philosophy
Production focused on quality and a connection to the land: artisanal work in the vineyard and cellar, respect for local agricultural practices, and care of the processes from vine to bottle to express the identity of the Colline Teramane.
Terroir and vineyards
Colline Teramane — a hilly area between the Apennines and the Adriatic Sea, characterized by temperature variations and windiness that promote balanced ripening of the grapes.
