The Coteaux du Layon Moelleux Chaume 1er Cru from Domaine de La Bergerie represents an excellence in the production of sweet wines from the Loire Valley. This wine is made from the Chenin Blanc grape variety, known for its ability to develop a rich concentration of natural sugars while maintaining a remarkable acidic balance. The uniqueness of the "Moelleux" lies in its moderate sweetness, which allows the full appreciation of its aromatic complexity without being overpowering.

The wine presents an intense golden color with reflections that shine in the light. On the nose, distinct notes of honey, dried apricot, and slight hints of sweet spices like cinnamon immediately stand out. On the palate, it is velvety, with a sweet entry balanced by lively freshness that introduces a long and pleasantly persistent finish.

This Moelleux Chaume 1er Cru is ideal as an accompaniment to fruit-based desserts or blue cheeses, but it can also be a refined protagonist in an aperitif. Its complexity and elegance make it a prestigious choice for those who wish to explore high-quality sweet wines.

Winery history
The property is managed by the Guégniard family: the modern history of La Bergerie begins with the purchase made by Marie-Scolastique Bouhiron in 1961. The estate has passed from generation to generation and is today run by Anne, Marie and Amaury, who continue the family tradition by enhancing the area's vineyards.
Production philosophy
The approach aims to respect the soil and the identity of each parcel: careful vineyard work, selective harvesting and parcel-by-parcel winemaking. Since 2016 the estate has been certified organic and adapts vine training and aging to the characteristics of each "jus" to preserve the connection with the terroir.
Terroir and vineyards
The estate is located in the heart of Anjou Noir, on predominantly schist soils with deposits of sandstone, puddingstone and clay; the area also benefits from a moderate oceanic influence. The property owns vineyards in areas recognized as Savennières, Coteaux du Layon and Quarts de Chaume.
Awards and recognitions
