Etna Bianco DOC Contrada Carranco - Carranco is born on the slopes of the Etna volcano, a land rich in minerality and a unique climate that gives the wine an unmistakable personality. Produced with Carricante grapes, an indigenous variety of this region, it expresses on the palate a vibrant freshness accompanied by an intense mineral sapidity, the result of the volcanic soils.

The aging takes place in steel tanks, thus preserving the aromatic purity and the liveliness of the aromas that recall hints of white flowers, green apple, and citrus. On the palate it is harmonious, with an elegant balance between acidity and softness that makes it perfect to accompany seafood dishes, shellfish, and fresh cheeses.

A white wine that tells the Etna terroir in every sip, capable of exciting wine lovers with its authenticity and complexity despite its youth.

Carranco (Palmento Carranco) – Winery in Sicilia

Discover the story and wines of Carranco (Palmento Carranco).

An Etna winery established through a collaboration between Borgogno and Tornatore, with vineyards on Etna's northern slope (Contrada Carranco) and production focused on Etna DOC wines made from Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio and Carricante.
Region: Sicilia
Country: Italia
Founded: 2018
Grapes: Carricante, Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio
A project born from the collaboration between Borgogno and Tornatore. Vineyards located at approximately 500 m above sea level on the northern slope of Mount Etna, in the Contrada Carranco. Production of crus designated "Contrada Carranco" and the "Villa dei Baroni" range. Etna Bianco: 100% Carricante. Etna Rosso: typically made from Nerello Mascalese, with small percentages of Nerello Cappuccio. Use of traditional cellar techniques: red wines undergo fermentation in concrete and are aged in oak casks or barriques; white wines ferment in stainless steel and are also matured in concrete or barriques, depending on the label.
Winery history
The Carranco project was born from the desire to unite Borgogno's historic expertise and Tornatore's Etna roots. The estate's website notes that the initiative began in 2018. The property also preserves an ancient underground palmento dating back to the 18th century, which has undergone conservation and restoration work.
Production philosophy
The winery declares an approach that combines respect for the territory with local tradition: cultivation of indigenous grape varieties, careful attention to the timing dictated by the volcano, and winemaking rooted in Etna's historical practices. Publicly stated values include attentiveness, gratitude and character.
Terroir and vineyards
The vineyards are located on the north side of Mount Etna, around Contrada Carranco at about 500 m above sea level. The soils are volcanic in origin and the vines are also trained as bush vines on terraced slopes.
