The Fumé Sauvignon Alto Adige DOC from Schloss Englar presents itself as an authentic concentrate of freshness and minerality, typical of the renowned wine-growing area of Alto Adige. This wine is made exclusively from Sauvignon Blanc grapes, grown in sunny and ventilated vineyards that favor a perfect ripening of the bunches. The particular climate of Alto Adige, with significant temperature variations between day and night, gives the wine an extraordinary balance between vibrant acidity and intense aromas.

The aging mainly takes place in stainless steel, thus preserving the purity and aromatic complexity of the grape variety. In the glass, it opens with hints of freshly cut grass, elderflower, and fruity notes of grapefruit and passion fruit. The palate is juicy and lively, with a fresh mineral vein accompanying a persistent and savory finish.

Perfect paired with fish dishes, shellfish, or grilled vegetables, this Fumé Sauvignon is an excellent choice for those seeking a white wine with a bold yet elegant character, a genuine expression of the Alto Adige territory.

Winery history
The Castel/Schloss Englar complex is a medieval settlement first mentioned in documents from 1256; the present late‑Gothic building developed from the 15th century and the property has been linked for centuries to the Counts Khuen‑Belasi. In recent decades the manor has been restored and also converted for hospitality use; wine production was revived and, since 2014, winemaking has again been carried out and bottled on site.
Production philosophy
The winery focuses on estate-grown grapes, organic vineyard management and the preservation of biodiversity. In the cellar, careful winemaking practices are preferred to produce clean wines characteristic of the area, with extended aging in wood and respect for maturation on the lees when necessary.
Terroir and vineyards
Located in San Michele di Appiano, the estate stands on a south-facing terraced hill with an almost Mediterranean influence. The area benefits from ample sunshine and soils well suited to alpine and international varieties.
Awards and recognitions
