Monkey 47 is a premium gin produced in the Black Forest (Loßburg, Germany) by Black Forest Distillers. It is known for the use of 47 botanicals, small-batch production and distinctive expressions such as the Barrel Cut and the Sloe Gin.

Distillation

Small-batch production: maceration of botanicals for ~36 hours, traditional distillation and subsequent refinement of the distillate; unfiltered bottling into dark glass bottles numbered by batch.

Ageing

For the base gin: the distillate rests in earthenware containers for about three months before dilution and bottling. For the Barrel Cut: maturation in new, lightly toasted 110 L mulberry barrels.
