The Marsala DOC Superiore Riserva Semi Secco 2001 by Aegusa, produced by the historic Florio winery, represents an emblematic example of the Marsala tradition, rooted in the Sicilian territory. This wine is made from grapes grown in the area around Marsala, in the province of Trapani, where the Mediterranean climate and calcareous-clay soils give a distinct minerality to the product.
The main grape variety cultivated for this Marsala is Grillo, typical of the denomination, accompanied by native varieties. After fermentation, the wine undergoes a period of aging in wooden barrels, according to the classic method that Florio carefully preserves, ensuring quality and longevity for the Marsala. The 2001, being a Riserva, has matured for at least two years, developing complexity and balance between sweetness and acidity.
On the nose, it expresses intense aromas of dried fruit, honey, and spicy notes. The sip is enveloping, with a pleasant soft finish, ideal with dry pastries, aged cheeses, or as a meditation wine. A true jewel of Sicilian winemaking tradition.
