Ornus from Tenuta dell'Ornellaia is born in one of the most prestigious areas of Tuscany, characterized by soil rich in clay and galestro, ideal for best expressing the potential of the indigenous and international grape varieties used. This wine represents a refined balance between elegance and power, obtained from carefully selected grapes and aged in oak barrels that confer a enveloping structure and an aromatic complexity of great finesse. On the nose, intense aromas of ripe fruit, spicy notes, and light balsamic nuances open harmoniously, while on the palate it stands out for freshness, well-integrated tannins, and a persistent finish that invites another sip. Ornus pairs splendidly with dishes based on red meats, game, and aged cheeses, enhancing the gastronomic experience with its decisive but never aggressive personality. An authentic expression of the Ornellaia terroir.

Winery history
Originally conceived as a project by Marchese Lodovico Antinori, the estate has stood out since the 1980s for its use of international varieties and for the meticulous care of its vineyard and cellar. The first commercial vintage was in the 1980s; over the years the property underwent significant changes, including involvement by Robert Mondavi and later full control by the Frescobaldi family. In recent years the commercial name has been updated to reflect the importance of the Masseto label as well.
Production philosophy
The pursuit of terroir expression through blends of Bordeaux varieties, rigorous grape selection, and winemaking practices designed to translate Bolgheri's coastal microclimate into balanced, elegant wines.
Terroir and vineyards
The estate is located in the Bolgheri area on the Tuscan coast; the climate is strongly influenced by the Tyrrhenian Sea and the vineyards grow on soils with marine, alluvial and volcanic components that determine the character of the wines.
