The Pinot Nero Selection Alexander Gottardi comes from the designated area of Mazzon, in the heart of Val di Cembra, a zone famous for its high altitude and unique exposure that favor a slow and complete ripening of the grapes. It is produced entirely with Pinot Nero grapes, an elegant and refined variety, which in this interpretation expresses great finesse and complexity.

The aging method, typical for quality Pinots, includes a period in wooden barrels that imparts structure and soft notes without overpowering the fruity character. On the nose, aromas of small red fruits such as cherry and raspberry emerge, accompanied by spicy and floral hints typical of the variety. On the palate it is harmonious, with velvety tannins and vibrant freshness that invites the next sip.

Excellent paired with refined white meats and mushroom-based dishes, it best expresses the connection with the terroir of Val di Cembra, paying tribute to the talent of Alexander Gottardi.

Region: Alto Adige / Südtirol
Country: Italia
Founded: 1986
Grapes: Pinot Nero (Blauburgunder), Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer
Vineyards situated in the renowned Mazzon area, celebrated for Pinot Noir. Vineyards acquired in 1986; first production in the renovated winery in 1995. Since 2010 the winery has been exclusively dedicated to Pinot Noir. Generational transition: Elisabeth Gottardi at the helm since May 2022. Production and aging focused on elegance: selective use of barriques and large casks for the reserves.
Winery history
The Gottardi family, originally involved in the wine trade in Innsbruck, purchased the vineyards in Mazzon in 1986. Over the years the vines were replanted and the winery renovated: the first wine produced in the renewed facility dates back to 1995. Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer were also cultivated in the past, but since 2010 the estate has focused exclusively on Pinot Noir. Management has remained family-run: after the death of the founder Bruno and a period under Alexander’s leadership, since May 2022 the winery has been led by Elisabeth Gottardi.
Production philosophy
Utmost attention to Pinot Noir and the terroir: meticulous winemaking to express the elegance and identity of Mazzon, with a careful selection of barriques and oak aging for the flagship wines.
Terroir and vineyards
Mazzon, a west-facing hill in southern South Tyrol; its microclimate — warm days and cool nights — is considered ideal for Pinot Noir.
