This Ruby Porto is aged in large wooden barrels for a period of three years, which allows it to develop its characteristic fruity freshness while maintaining a surprising complexity for its young age. In the glass, it presents with an intense ruby red color, reflecting in its name the visual vibrancy it promises.
On the nose, Ruby Dum Porto displays a rich bouquet of aromas of ripe red fruits like cherry and plum, enriched by subtle spicy notes and a hint of dark chocolate, which adds depth and complexity to the aromatic profile. On the palate, the wine is generous and full, with a sweetness balanced by a robust tannic structure and well-integrated acidity that leads to a lingering and pleasantly warm finish.
This Porto is ideal as an accompaniment to rich desserts such as chocolate cakes or intense cheeses. It is also delightful on its own as a digestif at the end of a meal, offering a moment of pure relaxing pleasure.
The Niepoort winery is committed to maintaining traditional winemaking methods that reflect the heritage and integrity of Porto wine, ensuring that every sip of Ruby Dum Porto is an authentically Portuguese experience.

Distillation
The Aguardente Velhíssima is a pomace distillate (aguardente) produced as a blend: aged spirits (for example a blend of lots aged 25 and 10 years) finished in oak casks.
Ageing
Aging in wood for Ports (traditional barrels/pipes in Vila Nova de Gaia for tawny and colheita) and in oak barrels for the spirits; some Colheita labels indicate long aging periods in traditional pipes.
