The Sangiovese Romagna DOC Vigna Montale of Cà di Sopra Marzeno expresses with great elegance the essence of the Romagna territory. Made from selected Sangiovese grapes, the region’s flagship variety, this wine stands out for its balanced structure and lively character. The cultivation in vineyards located on well-exposed hills ensures optimal ripening, while aging in wood enhances its aromatic complexity.

In the glass, it appears with an intense ruby red color, accompanied by aromas of cherry, red fruits, and light spicy notes reminiscent of the Mediterranean scrub. On the palate, it wraps with soft tannins, lively freshness, and a pleasant sapidity, offering a harmonious balance that invites further tastings.

Perfect with traditional Romagna dishes such as tagliatelle with ragù or red meats, this Sangiovese tells the passion and identity of Cà di Sopra Marzeno with every sip.

A family-run estate on the hills of Marzeno (Romagna) that primarily grows Sangiovese and Albana, producing wines focused on expressing the terroir.
Region: Emilia-Romagna
Country: Italia
Founded: 1967
Grapes: Sangiovese, Albana, Trebbiano, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Bianco
Vineyards located in the Marzeno subzone Strong focus on Sangiovese and small-production labels. Family-run Two main estates: Ca' di Sopra and Ca' del Rosso. Visits and tastings available by appointment.
Winery history
The estate is led by the Montanari family; the company began as an agricultural and winemaking concern and, from 2000, initiated a significant renewal of its vineyards. Since 2006 the winery has focused production on a few high-quality labels made from the estate's best vineyards. The company website states it was founded in 1967 and describes a process of modernization and the selection of the finest parcels.
Production philosophy
The estate aims to translate the character of Marzeno into the bottle through limited yields and careful vineyard management: showcasing the local Sangiovese and native varieties, working the vineyards according to the terroir, and vinifying to express the character of the valley.
Terroir and vineyards
The vineyards are located in the small Marzeno subzone on predominantly calcareous-clay soils; elevations range approximately from 80 to 240 m a.s.l, depending on the estate. The microclimate and exposure influence the style of the wines, particularly the Sangiovese di Marzeno.
