The Sicilia Chardonnay DOC by Planeta represents the harmonious meeting between the international Chardonnay grape variety and the unique terroir of western Sicily. Cultivated on mineral-rich soils in the countryside of Menfi, this wine stands out for the freshness and elegance typical of white grapes ripened under the Sicilian sun.

The wine primarily matures in steel, preserving liveliness and fragrant hints of citrus, tropical fruit, and a delicate touch of vanilla that blends with a light note of bitter almond. On the palate it is dry, balanced, with a pleasant acidity that makes it vibrant and of good persistence.

Perfect to pair with seafood dishes, such as grilled fish or shellfish, it also expresses itself splendidly with fresh cheeses and light appetizers, offering a fully Mediterranean experience capable of enchanting both beginners and white wine enthusiasts.

Model "each territory its own winery": wineries/production facilities and vineyards distributed across multiple areas of Sicily. Extensive conversion to organic farming and adoption of sustainability protocols. Showcasing indigenous grape varieties. Integrated production, including olive oil, and hospitality/wine tourism activities. Research projects on viticultural biodiversity and the recovery of local varieties.
Winery history
The Planeta family's history has been rooted in Sicily for centuries; the modern winemaking project took shape in the 1990s with the opening of the first winery in Ulmo and territorial growth that led to the establishment of wineries and vineyards in various areas of the island. Over time the company has developed a model in which each territory has a dedicated winery, supplementing wine production with olive oil and hospitality activities and completing the conversion to organic farming on much of its cultivated land.
Production philosophy
Planeta's approach is based on territorial identity: research and respect for local varieties, agronomic experimentation tailored to the different Sicilian terroirs, and practices aimed at environmental and social sustainability, with investments in projects to protect biodiversity and promote organic farming.
Terroir and vineyards
The estates extend across Sicily from west to east, with established presences in Menfi/Ulmo, Vittoria, Noto, on Etna, and at Capo Milazzo, as well as other wineries and local projects such as Dispensa, Monte Cirami and Serra Ferdinandea.
