Samuel Tinon's Tokaji Aszú 5 Puttonyos is an extraordinary example of one of the most prestigious and historic sweet wines in the world, coming from the Tokaj region of Hungary. Samuel Tinon, a highly experienced and passionate winemaker, has dedicated his life to the production of Tokaji Aszú, putting traditional knowledge and techniques into practice to create wines of exceptional quality and complexity. The "5 Puttonyos" designation refers to the level of sweetness of the wine, determined by the amount of Aszú grapes added to the base must during the production process. This system, although now out of use in favor of a classification based on sugar residues, remains an indicator of the richness and intensity of Tokaji Aszú.

Tinon's Tokaji Aszú is mainly produced with Furmint grapes, a native variety that characterizes most Tokaji, accompanied by smaller quantities of Hárslevelű and other local varieties. These grapes, left to dry on the vine until they develop noble rot (Botrytis cinerea), are then harvested manually and left to macerate with the must or base wine, starting a slow fermentation process.

The result is a wine of extraordinary aromatic and gustatory complexity. Visually, it presents itself with an intense golden color, a prelude to its richness. On the nose, the Tokaji Aszú 5 Puttonyos by Samuel Tinon offers a deep and enveloping bouquet, with notes of candied fruit, honey, dried apricot, candied citrus, and nuances of sweet spices and dried flowers, enriched by a touch of distinctive volcanic minerality of the Tokaj region.

In the mouth, the wine reveals a sweetness masterfully balanced by a lively acidity, which gives freshness and length to the sip. The flavors of ripe fruit and honey blend with notes of ginger, saffron and minerals, leading to a persistent and layered finish, which leaves an impression of elegance and complexity.

Ideal as a meditation wine or paired with foie gras, blue cheeses and desserts that are not too sweet, such as fruit cakes or creams, the Tokaji Aszú 5 Puttonyos by Samuel Tinon is a true oenological treasure that offers a unique tasting experience, capable of celebrate the centuries-old tradition of Tokaji production in Hungary.

Winery history
Born in Bordeaux and raised in the sweet appellation of Sainte-Croix-du-Mont, Samuel Tinon studied viticulture and oenology and worked as a "flying winemaker" in several countries before settling in Tokaj in the early 1990s. He began his own local production in the early 2000s and has since explored both wines without botrytis and the traditional botrytized styles typical of the region.
Production philosophy
They practice attentive, low-impact viticulture, leaving the choice of wine styles to harvest conditions and to nature; in the cellar they favor measured interventions, traditional Tokaj techniques, and an approach that emphasizes controlled oxidation and the terroir’s character.
Terroir and vineyards
The winery operates in the Tokaj region, with vineyards in the Olaszliszka area and on the slopes of Mount Tokaj; soils include volcanic substrates, clay and loess, and the landscape is shaped by the Bodrog and Tisza rivers, which favor conditions for botrytis.
