Vernaccia di San Gimignano DOCG - Le Grillane - Melini represents excellence in the panorama of Italian white wines, produced in the heart of Tuscany by the historic Melini winery. This label celebrates Vernaccia di San Gimignano, the first Italian wine to receive the DOC (Controlled Designation of Origin) recognition in 1966, later elevated to DOCG (Controlled and Guaranteed Designation of Origin), testimony to its quality and historical importance.
The "Le Grillane" wine takes its name from the lands on which the Vernaccia vines grow, characterized by a unique microclimate and particularly suitable soil which contribute to giving the wine its distinctive notes. It has a brilliant straw yellow color, with greenish reflections that anticipate the freshness and liveliness typical of this vine.
On the nose it offers an elegant and complex bouquet, with notes of white pulp fruits, such as apple and pear, floral accents and a light minerality, which reflects the richness of the San Gimignano terroir. Notes of almond and aromatic herbs add further layers of complexity, inviting tasting.
On the palate, the Vernaccia "Le Grillane" stands out for its extraordinary balance and harmony. The well-integrated acidity supports fruity and floral flavors, giving the wine a pleasant freshness and a long tasting persistence. Its characteristic minerality is intertwined with delicate bitter notes in the finish, a distinctive sign of the Vernaccia grape which makes it immediately recognizable and appreciated.
This wine pairs perfectly with fish dishes, seafood, light appetizers and fresh cheeses, but is equally pleasant as an aperitif, thanks to its ability to stimulate the palate by preparing it for the meal.
