The Whisky 30 yo 2024 of Highland Park is an exceptional distillate that embodies the essence of the Orkneys, an archipelago off the coast of Scotland known for its harsh climate and strong maritime influence. Extended maturation in selected oak barrels gives this single malt unique complexity and depth, the result of artisanal care and patience in aging. On the nose, it opens with enveloping notes of honey, subtle peat, and sweet spices, accompanied by hints of vanilla and dried fruit. On the palate, the smoothness is balanced with a smoky character typical of the high latitudes, where the sea and breeze impart a salty and iodine touch. The finish is long, warm, and persistent, with pleasant recalls of wild herbs and creamy vanilla. This excellent whisky lends itself to moments of meditative tasting, ideal to sip neat to appreciate every nuance. It pairs beautifully with rich dishes such as roasted meats, aged cheeses, or desserts based on almonds and honey, enhancing its robust yet harmonious structure. A jewel of the Highlands that tells the story of a remote and fascinating land.
